The United Against Torture Consortium urges the Bangladeshi government to immediately end the torture and ill-treatment of student protesters and hold perpetrators accountable amid the violent crackdown by security forces that has killed hundreds and injured thousands.

In January 2023, AXON Inc (maker of the Taser© range of projectile electric shock weapons) announced the Taser 10, a new 10 shot Taser. In a fanfare of publicity, AXON claimed this weapon was going to  be a ‘game changer’.

For over 25 years, Dr Alice Edwards has been at the forefront of the global fight against torture. As the current UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, she has focused on addressing this crime in conflict zones, regulating the equipment used by police forces to commit torture, and improving prison conditions worldwide.

Civil society organisations have developed a Plan of Action to improve police transparency and accountability mechanisms in the Spanish State.

On 26 June 2024, the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, the Omega Research Foundation delivered a lecture to the Judiciary of Mexico City on the Istanbul Protocol.
