Rebecca has been a researcher at Omega since 2019. She has a particular focus on national, regional, and international trade in tools of torture, including at the UN and in the European and African regional contexts. Rebecca represents Omega in the core organising group of the Torture-Free Trade Network. She undertaken high-level advocacy on the issue of torture-free trade, including at the UN in New York and Geneva, and has worked to support the current UN Special Rapporteur on Torture’s focus on torture-free trade. Her research into the manufacture and use of law enforcement equipment has particularly focused on the African region.
Rebecca currently leads on Omega’s communications and advocacy within the United Against Torture Consortium programme of work.
She holds a PhD in International Relations, with a focus on the regulation of private military and security companies.
