Putri Kanesia

Putri Kanesia is a lawyer and human rights activist from Indonesia. She is working as a Regional Advocacy Coordinator at Asia Justice and Rights (AJAR), a regional human rights organization working to strengthen accountability and human rights in Asia-Pacific. She is also a member of SOS-Torture Asia Litigators Group, a network of 17 litigators from 11 countries across Asia, initiated by the World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT) to fight against torture and impunity.

For more than a decade, she has worked in several human rights organisations, such as Jakarta Legal Aid Institute (Jakarta), Asian Human Rights Commission (Hong Kong), and the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence / KontraS (Jakarta). During her work, she has conducted various investigations and provided legal assistance for victims of torture.

Putri holds an LLB in Criminal Law from the Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia and a master’s degree in LLM International Human Rights Law at the University of Essex, UK.
