Riot Control Weapons and Equipment

As part of our ‘Tools of Torture’ project, and through other small-scale projects, Omega looks at the manufacture, sale and use of riot control weapons (also known as crowd control weapons).

This includes various weapons used by law enforcement agents to police assemblies and demonstrations, such as:

  • Chemical irritants, such as pepper spray and tear gas;
  • Rubber bullets;
  • Baton rounds;
  • Water cannon;
  • Acoustic hailing devices, such as the Long-Range Acoustic Device (LRAD); and
  • Stun grenades.

For further information on the specific weapons and equipment please see our visual glossary.
